The Devil Wears Prada is and will always be an absolute classic, and we've lost count of the amount of times we've binge-read the book and settled down with a truck load of snacks to watch the film.
But as with any adaptation of a well-loved book, there are some differences between the novel and the movie - one of which author Lauren Weisenberger isn't that keen on.
Speaking to Cosmopolitan UK at Hearst's Big Book Festival about her new novel The Wives, Lauren explained that while Meryl Streep is brilliant as Miranda Priestly, she couldn't help but feel like Fox had made her character a little too soft.
"I had very little input in the movie. I loved the movie, it's a really good movie", she told us. "I don't love that they humanised Miranda as much as they did, though. I understand that Meryl Streep wanted to play a three dimension character, because she's the greatest talent we know, but I had a hard time imagining Miranda Priestly weeping in a hotel room or confiding to Andy. I was like, 'Oh she's crying? I don't think so!'
"But it worked perfectly for the movie, and I think the book was better served without it. I understand though, the two different mediums had different meanings."
Her new novel, The Wives, joins Emily Charlton 10 years after her stint at Runway Magazine. She has moved to the suburbs with her husband, where she works as a celebrity damage control expert - but when someone comes for her own reputation, she and her friends must fight to get their own back.
